Accueil > Motion Graphics

Motion graphics is an animation technique which has really taken off over the last 15 years. Today, it is everywhere, from London to Tokyo through Paris and Hollywood, from the short ad/commercial to the full-length cinema film and also in the credits, logo animation, the graphic interfaces or in digital art. Everywhere! Naturally, it has also invaded the sphere of institutional films. What are its benefits for your corporate videos?

So, what is Motion Graphics?

Motion Graphics is an abbreviation of motion graphics design.

  •   Graphic design. This means the creation and the combination of symbols, images and texts n order to form a visual representation of an idea or a message. For example, the Louis Vuitton initials, with the L in the V, as well as those patterns mixing geometry and botany: a diamond sheltering a flower, the same flower alone in reversed colors and finally a circle containing another flower, that’s graphic design. It allows the brand to be identified at first glance.
  • Motion: simply means “moving”. This means that animation techniques are used.
Motion graphics could simply be translated by “animated graphic design”. It is the art of bringing a graphic representation to life through animation.

Each time you see a logo with movement, which changes size, color, which lights up or which moves, it is motion graphics, designed in a production studio. The effect of metal caressed by a ray of light from the logo « Lucas film Ltd. », in the credits of the Star Wars movies is an example.

Choose and experience motion graphics
for your institutional film

motion graphics designThe choice of motion graphics for a corporate video of an institutional film has several advantages. The first is the almost unlimited range of possibilities offered by graphic representation. It is the talent of the illustrator and the motion graphics artist  which determine the limits of what appears visually, and you can get almost whatever you like. So, diagrams can be created to represent statistics but you can also create real-life simulations; one can also illustrate complex concepts or processes. Just like in whiteboard animation, you don’t need more resources to represent a bicycle or a rocket.

Today the techniques of graphic design allow us to communicate in all styles. That can be either be a funny, offbeat style with roly-poly characters, or on the contrary a very artistic, neat style. It can also be photograph animation, in 2D or 3D, etc So, the doors of imagination can be opened wide and you can give the tone desired for your film.

Motion graphics, just like whiteboard animation, doesn’t require huge logistics. It is easy to do (depending on the desired graphic design) and it doesn’t require all the filming equipment needing to capture real-life. In this way, an institutional film in motion graphics is generally faster to produce.

Above all, motion graphics is cool! It’s new and at the same time it’s in fashion at the moment. It is a good way of surprising your prospective customers and of communicating a modern image, in line with new technologies. By also using the benefit of storytelling to produce your institutional film, you can design a real gem, likely to be posted and shared on social networks. But, you can of course, also use motion graphics for your internal communication.

Mixing motion graphics with other animation techniques

If you want to stand out and create a unique video, you can also mix techniques such as whiteboard animation and motion graphics. That way, you cumulate the advantages of the various techniques used. There’s nothing like it to give a certain vitality and to create several surprise effects for your audience. Our creative team of digital designers can do almost everything for you.

In fact, there are many possible alternatives.
Here are some other example videos.

Motion graphics and what there is around it

Let us remind ourselves of something obvious – animated graphic design is a tool. It allows many things to be done, but… But it is only a tool. In other words, it is an element, a chain-link in the know-how of video marketing which starts with a brief from which one or more ideas emerge, which with care and a little patience will give a scenario; this will then be transformed into a storyboard. From there, the motion graphics artist takes the stage and works his magic, then delivers his work to an editor, who will be able to add in a voiceover, music and sound effects. With energetic editing, a little shaping, some final polishing, that storyboard will become an institutional film or clip, which will circulate on social networks, will be downloaded, used in events, seen at home, or wherever you need it to be seen.

So, there is a whole set of talents which govern the birth of a film in motion graphics. Technique doesn’t replace ideas. This is why Videotelling drives a community of artists, in order to cultivate the ideas and to put them at the service of companies.
